Société des Bains de Mer plays a major role on a local and regional scale.

The company is a driver of employment in Monaco and in French border towns. Its area of influence stretches all the way to Nice to the west and to Menton and Italy to the east. Because of the seasonal nature of its activities, Société des Bains de Mer employs many seasonal workers during the summer.

The company also uses the services of many companies in Monaco or in nearby areas, and encourages fair and healthy competition in terms of prices and quality for services rendered.

The company’s total purchases – expenditures and investments – for the 2017-2018 fiscal year amounted to 78% of its total turnover.

There were several categories of purchases as follows (in descending order from highest to lowest):

• Construction;
• Food and drink;
• Hotel and casino consumables and goods;
• Artistic services;
• Technical and maintenance services.
